Can I visit the sanctuary?

Visits are limited to protect the peace and safety of our residents. However, we offer periodic open days and private tours for sponsors. We also share plenty of virtual glimpses — through stories, videos, and letters from the cats themselves.

Can I adopt or foster a cat from the sanctuary?

Not quite — our residents have already found their forever home here. But you can still be part of their story through our sponsorship program, where you’ll help provide their care and receive heartfelt updates on life at the sanctuary.

100% of proceeds goes directly toward the cats’ daily care — from meals and medical visits to enrichment, maintenance, and rescue response. We operate transparently and sustainably, ensuring that every dollar translates into real comfort, safety, and love.

We’re not an adoption-based rescue. The Velvet Paw is a lifelong sanctuary — a home for cats who may never be adopted elsewhere. Our focus is refuge, not turnover; healing, not hurry.

We’re also not a nonprofit organization. The traditional 501(c)(3) model often requires extensive fundraising and administrative upkeep that can leave small rescues underfunded and overwhelmed. Instead, we’ve built a sustainable, mission-driven model — supported through community sponsorships, creative initiatives like the 712 Charm Project, and direct care services — ensuring every cat here receives lifelong support without compromise.
